  • soy sauce(2 tea spoon)
  • Meat(If you don’t have, it is no problem for cooking.)
  • Sugar(3 tea spoon)

How to cook

Now, let’s cook “Nikujaga”. At first, cut the carrot and onion into bite size. Put them in to the pot.

Please fry on low heat to avoid burning the vegetables.(Important) If you have a meat, bring the vegetables to the edge and fry it together.

Then cover the pot to keep the vegetables’ water.

Next, cut potatoes and dip them into the hot water.

Remove the potato lye.

After about 3 minutes, put them in the pot.

Make sure to cover the pot again and wait for 5 minutes.

Let’s make a basement sauce while cooking on low heat.

Please prepare a bowl and pour the following ingredients.

  • Dashi – Tsuyu (not soy sauce!) (3 table spoon)
  • Sake for cooking(2 table spoon)
  • Soy sauce(2 tea spoon)
  • Sugar(3 tea spoon)
  • Mirin(1 or 2 table spoon) If you don’t have, it is no problem.

Then, mix it with spoon and put it into the pot.

Cover the pot again and wait for 10 minutes.

Next, add the water to adjust the taste. Please make sure not to add water too much.(50mml – 100ml is better.)

Once you have added the water, cover the pot again and wait a 10 minutes. The point is whole ingredients are dipped with a sauce.

Finally, try to make sure potatoes and carrots are ready as photo below.
